WHY ARE NONE OF YOU FUCKERS FLIPPING SHIT?!?

NASA HAS DECLARED PLUTO A PLANET AGAIN

IT HAS MOONS!!!!! IT HAS MOONS!!!!!!!

WHAT. WHAT! PLUTO YOU FUCKING DID IT!

VIVA LA PLUTO, YOU DID IT!!!

ehhh, not quite.

the IAU held a debate calling into question whether or not pluto should be considered a planet, putting two pro-pluto specialists against one anti-pluto specialists. Ultimately the the pro-pluto argument was voted to be the most convincing….by the audience.

Unfortunately, “public opinion” a scientific reclassification does not make. And with good reason! Science should always be informed, impartial, and backed by real and substantial evidence, NOT by debates and a public poll.

On the bright side, for all you Pluto lovers out there: In July of 2015 the New Horizons probe will be doing a fly-by of pluto to collect data, so there’s hope for Pluto’s planetary status yet.
